San Diego, CA – The Mira Mesa Concerned Citizens Community Advocacy Group is holding a Press Conference on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 10:30am – 11:30am to urgently ask City Officials to address the alarming neglect by the Department of Real Estate Asset Management (DREAM) in maintaining the Epicentre building and property under their jurisdiction. It is imperative that City Officials take immediate action because the current state of the building poses a real threat to public health and safety.

The residents of Mira Mesa are looking for more than a Band-Aid fix.  After 8 years of the city neglecting the Epicentre a coat of paint and few surface repairs are not a solution.  We are asking the city to take meaningful action and provide real solutions to secure the health and safety of our residents.  We are asking that the city transfer the oversight of the Epicentre to Parks and Recreation so they can begin regularly maintaining the building from the inside out.  We are asking for the city to start regular pest control and sanitation around and inside of the building.  If the city can provide these basic solutions, we will organize periodic clean-up events so the community can do its part to maintain and preserve the Epicentre.

The situation demands urgent attention.  We urge the city to take real action beyond a photo-op for social media.  We need prompt action to implement these necessary measures so that we may safeguard the integrity of our community and ensure the safety of its residents.

During the Press Conference, the residents will have the opportunity to share their concerns and offer solutions.
